Design Description:
Bringing together for the first time, the entire suite of a dozen YTL departments, the YTL Headquarters in Central Kuala Lumpur (along Jalan Bukit Bintang) presents a unified brand identity under one roof. Housing over a 1000 staff, MOD has created a series of choreographed spatial experiences which aim to balance YTL’s legacy of corporate professionalism with a future-forward attitude that embraces change.
There are 2 main public area zones, which occupy the Ground floor, and 3 upper floors (levels 8-10). All visitors are greeted with a vertically cavernous arrival reception-lobby, and on the upper floors, there are a host of collective meeting zones, including a cafe and garden deck.
The reception lobby is a study in proportion, light control and a disciplined use of materials. The soaring 20-meter high space has been designed to capture the rays of light in the daytime, and glow like a lantern in the evening. A glittering art installation (by STUDIO SAWADA) hovers like a cloud over a series of pavilion niches, which provide a sense of human scale in this vast space.
The upper-level meeting zones have been conceptualised to be the point of interface between YTL staff and external visitors/consultants. Spanning 3 floors, 2 of which are vertically integrated through a void and feature spiral stair, MOD has created a myriad of meeting spaces. Ranging from casual cafe style tables, semi-enclosed rooms, acoustically private rooms and large multi-function conference rooms, the spaces are designed with a warm and sophisticated palette.
