SPATIAL DUALITY_ Kokoda Property, Australia’s luxury residential developer, partnered with Singapore-based Ministry Of Design for an 18-storey residential building in Brisbane’s most sought-after neighborhood, Newstead. Situated in a vibrant community, five minutes away from the central business district, the 170 exclusive residences are spread between two towers with connection on the fourth and fifth level.
Drawing from the property’s branding personality of Chester and Ella, each lobby is treated accordingly. In Chester, the design language is angular with a dark woody palette highlighted by gold metal accents. Customized lighting accentuates the high ceiling and a strikingly sculpted reception counter hosts the 24-7 concierge service. In Ella, the form is curvaceous and light, as expressed with continuously convex walls papered with glistening white wallpaper and punctuated with copper metal trims.

MOD’s design extends to the shared amenities: the chef-style private dining, perfect for a party of 20, opens to a generous courtyard where MOD also provided direction in regards to the landscape layout. The spacious billiards lounge with access to a communal island bar is adjacent to a private theatre and karaoke room.
A design highlight is a bespoke spiral staircase, stretching between two volumes, bolstered by thin metal pillars that sinuously bend outwards in harmony with the handrail, exquisitely rendering an elegant wave pattern.
