Design Description:
The Standard is famed for its irreverent and quirky take on the hotel experience. From LA’s West Hollywood and NYC’s High Line to London’s Kings Cross, The Standard makes its local debut in a lush green enclave minutes from Singapore’s main shopping belt Orchard Road. The property’s 143 rooms & suites, and public spaces, have been designed by MOD to celebrate The Standard’s DNA, but with a local twist to reflect its local context. Expect moments of surprise and whimsy as you discover the lobby bar, destination restaurant and pool bar.
Designed to be disarmingly comfortable and inviting, akin to being in the home of a good friend, guests are immediately put at ease in the reception and lobby bar. Overlooking the internal garden courtyard, the atmosphere is pure “urban oasis” as you find yourself surrounded by potted plants, eclectic mid-century modern inspired furniture and warm textured materials. The lush greenery both inside-and-out celebrates the globally renowned vision of Singapore as a “City in a Garden”.
The abundant greenery continues through to the Destination Restaurant on the floor above, where nature playfully takes over. The space features overgrown creepers hanging from the ceilings and a custom-designed botanically themed wallpaper. Transforming as day becomes night, the restaurant bar has a full wall-feature display as its central feature, creating a lively vibe, regardless of the timing. The rooftop swim-up pool bar is an extension of this botanically-inspired experience, as guests enjoy drinks under hanging creepers and lush planting.
The 143 rooms reflect the design DNA which helped define the iconic Standard Hotel experience, but re-interpreted and refreshed to capture local materials and sensibilities. Rooms enjoy full-height glass facade walls which overlook the pool, its surrounding greenery, or the bustling downtown Orchard Road glamour. Suite rooms have corner glass and double-height living room areas which provide a million-dollar view to the city beyond.
