AN EXERCISE IN TEXTURE_ Duo Residences Gallery is a Singapore and Malaysia Joint venture (M+S) which offers 1 to 4 bedroom units in a mixed used development designed by renowned architect studio BOS located in central Singapore. Ministry of Design has been selected to represent Singapore to design the 1 and 3 bedroom show units. The design of each unit is underpinned by a narrative which imagines a particular homeowner and his or her eccentricities.

The one-bedroom unit is designed around a single executive in the tech communications industry who appreciates design and proudly displays his accomplishments. A wood slatted wall along the entire side of the apartment as his trophy wall while providing storage through smartly integrated boxes. The position of the living room sofa and table reinforces the multi usage theme inherent throughout the unit. The sofa doubles up as a dining banquette and the dining table as a study. In the bedroom the reinterpretation of a speaker wall provides the punch as a feature wall with integrated lighting.

The three-bedroom unit is designed for the retired couple whose children have left the family home. They appreciates art, culture and fine dining. Here the key emphasis is on comfort and a sophisticated palette of textures and colors befitting this demographic. Through fabric paneling and curving the walls of the living and dining area, this space has been softened to provide visual and user comfort. Bearing in mind the needs of empty nesters, we have programmed one of the three bedrooms as a study and TV den.
