RECLAIMING NATURE_ A masterplanning and architectural collaboration with leading developer Vanke, MOD has designed a site specific wetlands fronting development. Inspiration for this residential & retail development was drawn specifically from the characteristics and quantities of the wetlands. The key masterplan cues include extending the main pedestrain axis through the site and onto the coastal boulevard.
Conceptually imagined to be "within" the wetlands as opposed to simply sitting along its edge, the key design feature includes vehicular and pedestrian "bridgeways" over waterways which experientially separate the mainland with the wetlands based development. The facades and forms of the buildings also mimic the wetlands in shape, tone and also material palette - the coloured porcelain tubes also celebrate local craftsmanship of the region.

A major concentration of retail elements flank the axis and urban plaza spaces connect to the wetland boulevards. Each building is detailed to 'float' within the wetlands and is surrounded by a body of water, generating an atmosphere that is in harmony with the surrounding wetlands. Architecturally, the forms and colour palettes reflect the organic quantities of the wetlands and eco system. Façades are constructed with coloured porcelain rods manufactured by local artisans.
